Fujimae-Higata is one of Japan’s largest shorebird sites. It was designated as a wetland of international importance at the Ramar Convention in 2002. At the Inae Visitor Center, you can learn more about this important tidal flat.

藤前干潟は、日本有数のシギ・チドリ類の生息地の一つです。2002年にラムサール条約に基づき、国際的に重要な湿地として指定されました。稲永ビジターセンターでは、この重要な干潟について詳しく学ぶことができます。

1st Floor Exhibits

１階の展示

When you enter the center, there is a permanent exhibit about the migration of birds along the East-Asian Australian flyway. Fujimae Tidal Flat is an important stopover along this route. You can find explanations in both Japanese and English.

センターに入ると、東アジア・オーストラリア飛来路に沿った鳥類の渡りに関する常設展示があります。藤前干潟は、このルート上の重要な中継地です。説明は日本語と英語の両方で表示されています。

We offer three DVDs about Fujimae Tidal Flat:

  1. Welcome to Fujimae Tidal Flat (7 minutes)
  2. Migratory Bird Oasis (10 minutes)
  3. Fujimae Tidal Flat ~ How the Cycle of Life Connects us to the Future ~ (14 minutes)

Please ask the staff if you are interested in watching one or all of them.

当館では、藤前干潟に関するDVDを3種類ご用意しています：

Other exhibits in the main lobby of the first floor include:

  1. A diorama showing the tidal flat and the three rivers that have formed it
  2. Danger to wildlife from discarded fishing gear
  3. A special exhibit about egrets and herons
  4. Events and nature programs at Fujimae Tidal Flat
  5. Don’t forget to look at the fish tanks and specimens at the reception desk. All these creatures live at Fujimae.

2nd Floor Exhibits, Panoramic View of the River and Tidal Flat

2階の展示, 川と干潟のパノラマビュー

On the second floor, you can find:

  1. An exhibit showing what the world looks like from the point of view of a crab
  2. An exhibit about the reed beds along the Shonai River (the river in front of this center) and panels about the wildlife along this river
  3. Panels demonstrating the benefits of tidal flats
  4. Panels showing how birds fly together
  5. How to identify different gulls
  6. A panoramic view of the river and the tidal flat
