The East Asian-Australian Flyway
The round map of the Pacific Ocean on the floor in the lobby shows the flyway for birds from Siberia and Alaska in the north to Australia and New Zealand in the south. It is surrounded by panels showing some of the most important sites for migratory birds along the flyway. Can you find the two hands-on exhibits on the other side of the panels? One shows how different birds fly. The other compares the weight of a red-necked stint when it arrives after a long flight and when it leaves after resting and eating on the tidal flat for several weeks.
